The Face of Christ - Picture
THE PICTURE OF CHRIST
Seldom has a picture of importance come into existence under more dramatic circumstances, or against such overwhelming odds.
This picture of the Christ is a detail taken from the famous masterpiece, THE CRUCIFIXION, painted in 1894 by the noted Polish artist, Jan Styka. Jesus, the central figure in the original painting, was recently photographed (under extremely difficult and almost prohibitive circumstances) by special permission, and this photo is now available for wide distribution in the form of lithographic prints.
Through bizarre circumstances, Styka's gigantic (195' x 45') painting was abandoned for forty years in a warehouse basement and apparently lost to the world. It was finally rescued in 1944 by Dr. Hubert Eaton, founder of Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California, where it is now permanently on view and continues to thrill thousands with its panoramic magnificence.
Jan Styka's inspired conception of the Christ is considered by many to be the truest, most authentic and powerfully alive portayal of Jesus ever conceived by an artist. Its impact is often dramatic in its inspiring and transforming effect upon the viewer.
It transcends all images I have ever seen. It is so realistic that we can all be in His Divine Presence. Bro. Gerry Hagarty, O.M.C.
This is an 8 x 10 Picture. It is an enlargement of the face of Christ from the painting.
